Steamers is a family run Coffee & Tea House in a strip mall in Barrhaven. The owners take great pride in providing a quality product. There is a great selection of Gourmet Coffee Beans and Loose Leaf Teas from around the world. All the small food items are homemade and baked on site, including cookies, muffins, tarts, cinnamon buns etc. Larger desserts (cakes & pies) are supplied by local bakeries. They also have more substantial fare like Belgian Waffles, Grilled Sandwiches and Ice Cream.

Finally decided to check out this small coffee house in Barrhaven. “The Man” had a large fair trade organic House Blend Coffee. I had a large Earl Grey Tea. The tea was made from loose tea leaves and infused in a special tea pot with a built in insert (very modern, very cool).

We both agreed that the "large" size was practically a pail, LOL... if you choose to eat in they give you huge mugs. My teapot managed to fill the mug twice.

As we were both in the mood for nibbles, we decided to explore the food fare. There is tons to choose from for a local coffee house (including sandwiches and ice cream). We both couldn’t resist the baked goods, and chose the butter tarts with pecans (they also have some made with raisins). The pecan butter tarts were amazing, they truly are home-made and delicious.

The cakes, cookies, and cinnamon buns looked equally delicious. Maybe next time.

All-in-all a great stop, and a heck of lot cheaper than the local Starbucks!
